A LITTLE SOMETHING IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY

This is a song I wrote 15 years ago and sang once on the steps of the capitol. Thought it would be appropriate to dust it of again today. Enjoy!

ANTHEM FOR THE EARTH
by Steven M. Nelson

CHORUS:
If Earth is to survive and keep mankind alive,
Earth Day's message must be found
Within us all year round.

The thing we must recall is Earth's not ours at all,
We have temporary use and must work to end abuse,
We must trust our common sense instead of dollars and cents.

Say "Yes" to your bike
Ride the bus or take a hike,
Say "No" to your gas hog from Detroit!
Remember that the land
And all creatures here at hand,
Are ours to preserve but not exploit! (CHORUS)

This is our children's place, adrift in cold, dark space,
A tiny blue-green haven in dire need of savin',
We all must do our share cleaning water, land and air!

Say "Yes" to your bike
Ride the bus or take a hike,
Say "No" to your gas hog from Detroit!
Remember that the land
And all creatures here at hand
Are ours to preserve but not exploit! (CHORUS)
